The 400th Finlandia Newsreel of January 1959 was put together by Kari Uusitalo and is an action-packed summary of the captivating subjects in the previous 399 newsreels, depicting life in the 1940s and 1950s. The camera journeys around Finland and around the world, sees unrest, meets a multitude of people from film star Taina Elg to Professor Arvo Ylppö, and from Konrad Adenauer to Adlai Stevenson. ‘No topic is too insignificant to be a news item, the news camera acts as a window to real and true events.’ A review of newsreels 1 to 400.
